HI,

17" unibody Macbook pro.

2 x 128 gb G.skill ssd's

I previously had these ssd's in my SR 15" macbook pro. I had boot issues with it as well. If I wanted to boot off the ssd's I needed to force shutdown in order for the computer to see the internal raid0 as a viable startup disc. When ever I did a proper shutdown it would not find the start up disc properly. I ran "ok" this way till I recently purchased a refurb 17" unibody.

I took the ssd's out of the SR Macbook pro and put them in the unibody using a optibay like device. I booted off the install disc externally and did a fresh install on the ssd's into the 17" unibody. It worked great. I never had to force quit or do any work arounds for it to identify the raid0 ssd's as a start up disc. But In the first 2 days of ownership of the 17" I was experiencing random sleep states. An apple genius determined it was a hardware issue so I sent it back.

Apple sends me a second 17" unibody. No sleep problems occuring! BUT when I put the ssd's in and install the os it can't identify it as a start up disk. The ssd's pass disc utilities verify test, both individually and in raid 0 mode. I can even "successfully install". But when the computer restarts it can't find the them. When I hold the option key to manually select the start up disc it sees the raid 0 as two individual discs.

Is there a way to diagnose this or get it to work right? I am very frustrated that it worked great on my first 17" but not on the second one.

Thanks
