Unibody superdrive help

i have the UJ-868 (lucky me) that is causing me problems.

If i need to replace my superdrive in an original (first release) 15" unibody are there any alternatives to the hitachi/matsushita drives. where can i buy from in the UK.. have searched google but only seen some 2nd hand in the US.

i have heard that the latest unibodies contain sony drives, can anyone confirm this? i am hoping that these later drives may be a better/more reliable option?
