Unicode U+1F551

I'm going mad. For the person that knows the answer it's a very simple question.

I want to enter Unicode U+1F551 (2 o'clock). I have U+ Unicode Hex Input setup.

The issue is that the Mac produces a character after the 4th entry i.e. 1F55 and it ignores the last 1.

How can I enter a 5 hex digit unicode ..>.<

It seems like this is not possible with Unicode hex input, but supposedly with the special characters menu (alt + command + T). Some more info about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_input#In_Mac_OS
