Unifying Phone # & Apple ID

Developers, can you confirm this ability exists in iOS6? Apple stated in their latest keynote this functionality was coming to both ML and iOS6. They made it sound like it would be an available feature of ML. Now that ML is out, iMessage still doesn't have this capability...so the word on the street is iOS6 must be out before ML can take advantage. Can any of you confirm this?

I'm running iOS 6 and ML.. As far as I can there is currently no way of unifying the Apple ID. I have however done some snooping around in the components of Messages for ML and I actually found an entry in a plist that contains my phone number and a key telling Messages to use that number. It does NOT work yet though. Maybe 10.8.1 will enable it.
