Uninstall Boxee but retain one feature?

Hi there

I have boxee installed on my AppleTV but am not really a fan of it. I would like to uninstall it but am not sure how?

Also I would like to be able to enable my AppleTV to let me use an external HDD for additional storage of media. Is this possible without using Boxee?
