uninstall/reinstall imovie

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so I don't know if I am writing in the correct place.

My imovie has not been working for a long time. I went to the mac store yesterday and they told me to uninstall it and re-install the imovie. I was told that I can re-install the program by downloading it from the mac website. I tried to uninstall today. went applications/drag imovie into trash. I movie still appears as an icon at the bottom of my screen. I don't know how to finish this process and I really need imovie to work. Please can someone tell me how to do this assuming I am a dummy?

The iMovie at the bottom of the screen(the Dock) is just a shortcut to iMovie. If you've dragged iMovie from your Applications folder to the Trash, clicking on the Dock icon will probably just bring up an error message.

To get rid of that Dock icon, just drag it off of the Dock.
