Uninstalled DVD Player by mistake

Well just as this thread is entitled I uninstalled DVD Player by mistake; don't ask me how, I beat myself up about it earlier.

I have the new Macbook with Snow Leopard. How do I get DVD Player back? I put the applications disc in and DVD Player didn't show up...

Also I have the OS X disc but I don't want to reinstall my OS and wipe all my data.

So how do I get DVD Player back?

The problem is that when you select "re-install applications" - Apple means any apps that are not a part of OS X (Which, unfortunately for you, DVD Player is), such as the iLife Suite. One possible way is to restore it from a Time Machine backup, if you have one from before the time of deletion. The other option is to use a program such as Pacifist to un-bundle the Mac OS X Installer DVD and just drag and drop/re-install DVD Player back on.

You can try to the reapply the 10.6.2 combo update. If that does not work, go to a Apple Store and steal it from one of the computers there

Take a look at Pacifist.

You should be able to extract DVD player from your install discs.
