Hiya Guys,

I have a MacMini which was preinstalled with GarageBand '11. After Software Update I ended-up with 2 icons in my LaunchPad... so I (stupidly) deleted one... which has now uninstalled the GarageBand App from my Mac (Loops, etc. are still all there).

Attempting to reinstall GarageBand from the App Store I am told that "I have already Accepted this Application and I can find it under Purchases"... but no, no I can't... GarageBand is not in my "Purchases" list.

I received no installation CDs with my MacMini.

Can anyone help?!

Cheers,

Steve.

Have you checked the /Library/Receipts folder to see if there is anything in regards to Garage Band? If so delete it.

I'm not sure how much this will help, but it sounds like you aren't alone. Maybe one of these posts will help...

Thanks ChrisB - I have checked and the only reference to GarageBand is in my "InstallHistory.plist" - which I cannot edit as I do not have permissions.

Unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to give myself the correct access (I assume it'll be a "chmod" command from Terminal?) - I don't suppose you can guide me?

Much appreciated,

Steve.

PS: Thanks ItsMeCD - I will check the link now.

Still Stuck

I have tried both of the above suggestions and looked through many different Forums... it looks like I might have to contact Apple Support and attempt to get a free voucher to "purchase" GarageBand (again).

Unless anyone else has any more ideas?

Steve.

Apple Support

Hi Bainsteven, sadly you're right. I've had the same problems with trying to reinstall the iLife suite. You just have to call them up. But be firm and say you want the codes straight away or else they take a few days before they decide to email them to you.

Solved!

Thanks musty345 - you're right. I contacted Apple Support and they rang me back within 30-seconds! I have now requested a free voucher and they are sending me one within the next 24-hours.

Painless support - fantastic!

Cheers,

Steve.

If you didn't see GarageBand under Purchases, did you see iPhoto or iMovie? I can think of a couple possible reasons why, in any event. Either the AppleID you were signed into was not the one used to accept the pre-installed iLife apps, or the app was hidden from Purchases. An app can be hidden from purchases if someone clicks the x that appears next to the Install/Installed/Downloaded button. To restore purchases, you have to select View My Account from the Store menu, and in the section for iTunes in the Cloud, it will say "You have hidden x item(s)" and next to that "View Hidden Purchases." After clicking on that, you just click the Unhide button next to whatever you want to restore to Purchases.

Fixed!

JediMeister - I was sceptical, but tried it anyway... and you were spot-on!

All my Purchases were hidden... GarageBand is currently downloading for install :)

Legend! (I wonder if this means I'll now get a free voucher for GarageBand anyway?... anyone want it for a tenner?) ;) lol.

Cheers,

Steve.
