I installed the day it was announced for the iphone for free but never really used it because of its limitations compared to newsrack which i use on both my iPhone and ipad. I recently uninstalled it because i never used it and immediately noticed much better battery life. I never actually used Pulse. I did not have it set to pull feeds or anything. Weird .
Hopefully this thread will benefit you guys.

using pulse once or twice a day, having perfect battery life (usually lasting me 2 days without a recharge) ... so i do think your improvement is only perceived or coincidental

Pulse neither has any push notifications, nor does it pull feeds (or do anything really) in the background.

may affected your batt by running in the background and refreshing way to oftem

Sorry could not respond earlier.
The battery began to Decrease in performance right around when i installed it and then for 2 weeks the life was terrible. Magically after uninstalling it everything was better. It's been 5 days since I uninstalled so im pretty sure pulse was the culprit but probably due to a faulty install ( if such a thing exists ).

No batt stats natively on iPhone & def not a placebo because I uninstalled due to non-use of pulse not because I suspected it.

found this post while looking for info, same thing happened to me.
I have over 50 apps installed on my iphone, NON but Pulse decreased my battery life. If i started the app, I could see % going down faster than ever.
Unistalled, never a problem again.
