Uninstalling apps query?

I've read in several places that if you uninstall an app by dragging it to the trash it doesn't delete all of the files, so what is the best way to delete apps making sure all files are deleted?

How can I locate files that may have been left behind from apps I've already deleted via trash?

Actually the best way is to use an app's included uninstaller, if it comes with one.

The vast majority of Mac apps are not provided with an uninstaller.

Even uninstaller apps frequently leave things behind. They are rarely effective in completely removing all related files.
