Unison - Where are my files going?

I have an external HD that shows up as My Passport for Mac, and there is a folder on it named "Unison Downloads". In preferences I set Unison to Download to that folder on the external hard drive, but the files never make it to the destination folder, even though Unison shows the download in progress. What does get downloaded to the folder is an application named Automator that wants to install, but I keep deleting it because I don't know what it is. I have to admit that I'ma new convert to Mac after almost 20 years on a PC, so it's very likely that I didn't do something right, I just want to know what it is. Can anyone help?
