Unistalling Apps Leftovers

New to MacOS here. Does uninstalling apps in macOS leaves all kind of temp files and registry entries as in Windows? Is the use of uninstaller apps really necessary? Which one would be recommended if any?

Some actually have leftovers after uninstalling. The only downside is probably just some wasted disk space. I use AppCleaner to uninstall apps.

Another vote for AppCleaner. Works really well.

macOS has no central registry like Windows, but apps can leave behind some setting and cache files. But AppCleaner will zap those for you.

Short answer is NO. macOS is not Windows! As all applications are self contained (you can right mouse click on them and "show content" to see what has been packed within), you'll find macOS system is always running fast no matter how many apps have been installed (a huge advantage over Windows : )

There are some residual data left behind after you simple drag the application to the trash to delete, search ~/Library/Application/Support/

AppCleaner, Omni Remover and other similar Uninstaller utility is made to librate your time and do the clean app removal for you.

I'm not familiar with that app. I think you will find most members here suggest the app I linked up in post #3.

I have it and I use it also but it simply can’t find and remove 100% of the leftovers.
