Universal DOC stopped working? Not optimized?

My universal doc has been working great for the last year or two but after updating my iPhone3GS to the latest firmware it stopped working? The DOC says this accessory is not optimized for this iPhone. It was just working fine yesterday!!!! The remote wont work with it anymore (works fine with my MacbookPro) and I can't adjust the volume of the iPhone manually when it is in the doc Also, the music coming out of lineout port on the doc is too quite to listen to with my speakers cranked?

Any help with this?

I am having the same problem with a car charger after updating to 4.3.5.
