Hi, I've bought the universal ipod dock, the one with the IR port, now when I try to use FrontRow with my Apple Remote my ipod in the dock turns on.. is it possible to asssociate the remote only with the iMac and not with the dock?

Nope, it's Infra Red, anything in the line of sight gets the signal.
You could blok the Dock IR receiver...

Cheers

An RF reciever would be more useful though I think... and easier to rerout for, say, use in a home theater AV setup.

Well i tried this with two iMacs and it doesn't work.
Come to think of it, shouldn't the remote be able to receive info in order for this to work? The computers are networked, maybe i'll try with bonjour activated...
Maybe a definitely-don't-send-to-this-computer pairing option would be more logical, or am i missing something?

Anyhow, it doesn't work for me.
Did anybody make this work?

no.. doesn't work for me too

Even if i cover the dock IR receiver with the hand the signal pass.. Someone know what can I use to cover the receiver on the dock, that block the IR ray?

I tried blocking the imac's IR receiver with white and black paper and light cardboard, both single sheet and folded.
No luck either,
maybe aluminum foil will do the trick, don't have a sample to test here, sry ;)

About the pairing, it probably pairs the remote to the iMac, so that that iMac can only be controlled by that specific remote. I wonder how they dragged the dock in to their explanation. This system isn't able to exclude the remote to work with another machine.

Cheers

- I have the same problem, it's very frustrating!!!

Has anyone found a suitible material for covering up the IR sensor (on the dock) or any other method for turning off the dock sensor???

I did this and it worked :p

Technically my problem is solved - so much for fashion though :p
