i dont think you can save your settings...you'll probably have to do a restore and start from there.
p.s.
just don't add dumb things on your ipod without knowing the effects; you should be fine...if you don't add unnecessary things.

You can just restore the iPod and restore it from a previous backup with your settings. But it may cause a few minor problems depending on what you have done to the device. It's definitely worth a try though.
