So I've looked around on the internet and have seen a few site reference this issue but see no fixes. Just got my new car with carplay last week and ever since, theres a random text message (phone number, not one I have saved in my phone book), that I cant get rid of on my cars screen. It shows the date of the message as 12/30/00 and appears to be empty. I don't recognize the number and its no one I have messaged recently or at all. Anyone else know how to get rid of this or do I need to try to set up carplay all over again?

Have you tried rebooting the phone?

Yup doesn’t do anything. Message still pops up.

I was able to delete the message finally. I prompted Siri, through CarPlay, to send a message to the number (just a period). The message immediately returned as "Message Failed to Send", which was fine. But in turn, made the message appear in my phone now so when I deleted the thread on the phone, it immediately deleted the thread in CarPlay. Was trying to avoid having to send a message to a ghost number, in case it was live, but luckily it wasn't and just deleted.

bumping this thread as I had this same issue reappear the other day. I started to use iMessages in the cloud and it seemed to be working fine, mirroring my iPhone. however I noticed in CarPlay there would show like 10 different messages ranging back from a recent as the day prior all the way back to two weeks. these messages weren't on my phone and some of them were last used prior to me even using iCloud messages. I was able to delete some using the method I listed above, but im still confused how the CarPlay messages app is not mirroring the messages app on my phone and adding additional old messages that were since deleted. anyone else have this issue?

Hi!! I had this exact same issue a few weeks ago. My fix was to reply to the text through CarPlay, that would then put the text thread back in my Messages and I just go in and re-delete the message from phone and it deleted from the CarPlay as well. Then I blocked the phone numbers just so they couldn't respond back to my test text.
