A co-worker of mine just swapped out his iPhone 4 for an Android which uses 4G....and he's still grandfathered in with his unlimited data from his original iPhone 2 days...

So, does that mean when I switch over to the 4G capable iPhone 5 this September that it will also be grandfathered in? I currently am w/ my iPhone4.

From what I read, I was always under the impression that once you leave the 3G unlimited data realm to 4G, you lose that plan...

Any clarification is appreciated.

By AT&T's marketing standards, the 5th generation iPhone is a 4G iPhone. And technically the iPhone 5 will not be a 4G capable phone. With this in mind, yes, you will be able to retain it.

I just upgraded to a 4g phone as well as my iPhone died and I'm waiting for the 5 and yes you are grandfathered in for unlimited 4g data as well.
