This is an add-on to your regular plan. You use your wifi at home to voip while at home. Basically its for those who dont get cell service at home and want to use thier cell instead of a landline. If you unlock your iphone your more than welcome to get this service.

Well my wife still has t-mobile but i don't think her phone has wifi and she is not going to switch phones. She has the miami ink tatoo razor and loves it.

Would it be possible to enable our AT&T iphones to do that?
Or is it only network specific for Tmobile?

The cool thing is you dont rack up any mins when your talking on WiFi and calls transfer seemlessly from Wifi to Cell tower.

That said- there is only 2 phone T-Mobile has that supports this. I would think they could make it work with the iPhone.

I personally think AT&T is too greedy to do this as a lot of T-Mobile customers have been scaling back on their rate plans becuase all the calls made from their home.. and in some cases work- are now free.

Yes, that would definetelly worth the $10
I'd get the cheapest minute plan cause theres wifi at home and work so I'd be using that all day :)

i have been paying for VOIP from optimum/cablevision for months and never use it, but i would love if i could use my iphone and/or airport extreme to take advantage of it.

You can't get VOIP to work on the Apple iPhone. Trust me, I've tried researching this before I had the iPhone. Nobody has figured a correct way to do this. There are a couple of websites out there that promoto VOIP for the iPhone but these are not true VOIP methods.

These sites basically make the iPhone dial itself first and than piggy backs onto your Wi-Fi system to make an internet call. The big problem here is that since the method requires you to call yourself, you have to use your valuable cell phone minutes to enable each call. What's the point of doing that?

The only advantage of those methods is if you don't have a landline and you want to dial international numbers. This method gives you cheaper international rates than the regular cell phone companies give you.

One site like this is called s4iphone.com

just like the iphone can't be unlocked, right? what else do you need in a VOIP phone other than wifi? sorry i just have a hard time believing that something is not possible on iphone.
