Hi Everyone,

I wonder if i were to get the IPhone 3G and unlock it. Is it a smooth and easy process? And once unlock, do i just use it as a regular phone from ATT (i.e no service plan, etc ?)
I plan to buy and cancel /terminate the line and use the Iphone as a regular /"non-smart" phone.

Thank you

S

You dont need to unlock it to use on AT&T. Any AT&T sim will work and activate a US iPhone.
You can try using it without a data plan.
Some people get away with it and some get the data plan added on latelly by AT&T.

Thanks for your answer.

Anyone else unlock and got it working without any plan from ATT?

Thanks

You probably should search the "iPhone Hacks" forum. I'm sure this has been discussed at depth. Either way, unlocking discussions belong there.

If you can unlock it, you will be able to use a SIM card from T-Mobile or whatever GSM carrier you choose. It won't need to be activated on AT&T. That's the entire point of unlocking. And it doesn't need a data plan on other carriers.

Yes you can but AT&T will most likely catch you because of the IMEI Number
