Unlock 4s with version 5.1

Hey guys,

I cannot find this answer, maybe it is stupid and I don't really understand what is going on. I am with AT&T and I want to unlock the iPhone 4S version 5.1, so I can us it in Europe on my trip next month.
Do I have to Jailbreak the phone? or there is a way just to unlock it?
Where do I start? I am really confused. Please help.

There is no way to jailbreak an iPhone 4S running 5.1 currently. You can call AT&T and have them unlock it if your contract is over or you can pay an early termination fee and have it unlocked. I'm not sure if there are any hardware methods to unlock. Someone else will have to answer that question.

If it's still under contract you are SOL unless you want to pay the ETF. Buy an unlocked phone or use it on WiFi only.
