I have an Iphone 3G that I am going to sell, but would love to keep it if I can unlock it to be used on Sprint. I have read on a few sites that its possible but also have read that its not. It has been updated to the latest firmware/boot loader/baseband :( Is it possible to unlock for Sprint?

A GSM cellphone will never be able to work on a CDMA network.
Not if you unlock, hack etc...
They use different radios.
The only other GSM provider in the US is Tmobile so thats you only other option.
Whoever told you an iphone 3G can be used on Sprint is clueless.

Sprint uses CDMA, AT&T uses GSM, these are not compatible cellular technologies in any current version of the iPhone, sorry.

Cell carriers in other countries might use other Radios. I know Verizon is GSM in some countries here in the US it's CDMA. So Countries on GSM would work. That might be the confusion. only options here are AT&T or T mobile in the US no matter what anybody says!

one other thing Sprint is a JB not a unlock. Cell carriers in other countries might use other Radios. I know Verizon is GSM in some countries here in the US it's CDMA. So Countries on GSM would work. That might be the confusion. only options here are AT&T or T mobile
Sprint is not a JB, Spirit is. :)

Verizon is a US carrier and is only using a CDMA technology. Some Verizon phones have GSM radios built in that can be used in other countries, such as ones that use Vodaphone as Vodaphone is a 45% stakeholder in Verizon Wireless.
