So i dropped my old iphone 3g and the home button decided to stop working, and wont charge anymore. So my girlfriend gave me her old iphone (has a iphone 4 now), which 'apparently' she's tried to take the passcode off it but with no prevail gave up and decided to let me try. But anyway, it seems that i can't do it myself and have tried a few various methods on youtube/google. So i was wondering how exactly i go about doing this?

keep a backup if u want the stuff that's on ur iphone. if u want a fresh iphone restore ignore this .

put ur iphone in recovery mode (hold home button and sleep button till ur iphone enters recovery mode)

restore to the firmware u want to .

(optional) restore to the back up- to get u data back .

good luck

Cheers it worked :)
Unfortunately my old iphone wont sync or charge anymore...
