is there any way to unlock a iphone 3g for free and put it on net 10?

I don't know about Net 10, but you need to bring its baseband to 06.15.00 (don't remember which tool), then jailbreak on 4.2.1 with redsn0w or similar and then unlock via Cydia with Ultrasn0w.
Upgrading the baseband might be already jailbreaking it, but can't remember.

Just notice 06.15.00 is iPad's baseband so you'll never be able to restore via iTunes, you will always need a custom firmware 4.2.1 (patched).

Doesn't net10 run off AT&T's network?
If so then you don't need to unlock it.
It will work.

Net10 uses either AT&T or T-Mobile depending on which SIM you buy. An iPhone 3G will work with an AT&T Net10 SIM without unlocking.

Good info, thanks.

i bought a net10 sim card and the iphone says no service

Not sure what sim you have. Try restarting the iphone or a reset network while you have the sim in.
If its a tmobile sim and the phone is locked to AT&T it should say unsupported sim.
