Hey everyone,

So I have an out-of-contract Iphone 4 that jailbroken with 5.1.1

I've called AT&T and have already asked them to unlock my phone so now all I have to do is restore my phone to activate. However, when I try to restore it also asks me to update the iOS to 6 :(

Is there anyway to bypass the restore to keep the jailbreak and activate the unlock?
I've already backed it up to itunes and did "restore from backup" but the phone is still locked

Does this method still work?
It was written back in April so I'm skeptical if it still works

Use SamPrefs from Cydia all you do is deactivate the sim using Sam. Plug into iTunes and teactivate it with iTunes. You do not need to upgrade activate the sim using Sam.

You need to use iTunes to activate the unlock. It won't work without iTunes as that's the only way to reach Apple's servers because you can't erase all content with a jailbreak.
