Yes. jailbreak with www.jailbreakme.com (straight from safari on the iPhone) then unlock with ultrasn0w. The iPhone first needs to be activated by an official sim before your jailbreak.
Your baseband must be 1.59.00 to unlock.

What do you mean it's been erased? What's on your screen right now? Connect to itunes? If you can get to the main screen, go to Settings, General, About and tell us your Version and Modem Firmware.
actually my friend erased it, and now it shows only a apple logo
i have alos tried to save shsh but TU doesnt recognize the device

After using the "Erase...," you will have to do a restore. And, since Apple only allows you to restore to latest firmware (4.2.1), do you have old SHSH file saved which then allows you to trick Itunes into allowing you to restore with an older firmware?
If NO, you only option is to restore 4.2.1 which also updates your baseband to 3.10. 4.2.1 JB will be tethered and 3.10 baseband can't be unlock.

i dont have saved one. is it possible to save shsh in this condition i mean, i have tried using tiny umbrella but it doesnt recognize my device.

Right now, even if Tinyumbrella recognizes your phone, you can only save what Apple is signing / sending out which is only 4.2.1. That's why you had to save them already previously. Now, it's too late. Your only option is to restore to 4.2.1 with 3.10 baseband.
I think we heard it all. My friend, girlfriend, Dog erased my phone and now its at the apple logo.
