I've looked everywhere, but the internet is full of spam and old information on this topic.

I need help unlocking/jailbreaking a 1G iPhone that was just updated to the latest firmware via iTunes. It's stuck at the activation screen.

I'm running Windows 7 and have tried all of the xxxxxxxxpwn tools out there. Anyone have a step by step?

Thanks!

If by latest firmware you mean 4.0.2, I don't think you can. I don't even know about blobs on the original iPhone.

It's running the most recent version of iOS 3. 1G iphones don't support iOS 4. I can try downgrading to 2.x if possible.

Yeah, I'm with ViViDboarder. redsn0w is the way to go. The latest version of PwnageTool dropped support for the old iPhone, and the previous version has been finicky at best with some of the 2Gs I've been trying to reapply custom firmwares with.

Got it. I had trouble with redsn0w before, turns out I wasn't holding down the home button long enough to get into DFU mode. It has to be held down until the hard drive icon shows up with the words "downloading jailbreak data".

Thanks for the help.
