I've only just bothered to turn this feature on for my 2016 MacBook Pro, and while it's useful, it does take longer than using the Touch ID on my touchbar.

I do have a S0, which is pretty slow these days and waiting to be upgraded to a S4. Would that do anything to increase the speed of unlocking my Mac?

I have a S3 AW and when I open the lid in my MacBook Pro, it takes about a second to unlock. Very consistent.

My S2 sometimes unlocks pretty quickly, sometimes it seems to take a moment where I'm tempted to just use the Touch ID. But S2 is much slower than S3. And S4 is going to be fast still.

So this is one of the areas I'm looking forward to with the S4 - is just improved performance all around.

Interesting that S3 is faster at unlocking...

I have had slight delays with unlocking with my OG; anecdotal evidence seems to point at it generally seems to take longer to unlock if the watch is further away from the Mac. If a new watch speeds up the process that would be nice! :)

I have a S3 and it sometimes takes a few seconds to unlock. I have a 2014 MBP though so it is still faster and more convenient than typing in the password. I imagine with the touchID models I would probably use that function more often than waiting for the watch.

It does take a couple of seconds for me. Series 3 GPS and late 2013 MacBook Pro. Honestly if I had a laptop with Touch ID I’d probably use that instead, but the slight delay is still faster than typing my 14-character complex password each time.
