So I realized that Apple removed the unlock screen sound from Beta 5/6 in order to introduce a new sound when unlocking the device with a biometric scanner.

Clever, ehh?

Sarcasm aside, this is a great insight—the new sound will be the primary identifier of who has the new 5S in public vs the mere 5. Gold or graphite only work if someone is staring or chances to catch a glimpse. With the sound, everyone knows, whether they want to or care. Audio bling. Clever indeed!

Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on your part, hoping that there's something noticeable and unique about the 5S so that people know you have it.

I just listened to this thought on iMores show! Very clever indeed!

Maybe they are updating the unlock sound for all devices, which is why you don't have it on your non-5S ;)
