I recently got my iPhone 4 unlocked by AT&T. Does this mean this iPhone can be used sprint,Verizon or just tmobile ? I'm a little confused about this.

No to Sprint and Verizon, but yes to Tmobile.

once your iPhone unlocked you can use with any GSM service provider

As others have said, TMobile and other GSM-using cellular providers, including those overseas, as long as you get their SIM cards.

Also straight talk, h2o, red pocket, simple mobile and others US GSM companies.
Not CDMA.
