I had a contract 4s that I used a lot for travelling in remote places(Labrador, Northern Ontario, Yukon territories, etc.. the GPS worked fine even though there was no phone service to be had. My 4s was recently stolen and was wondering if the GPS on the unlocked 5 would work the same?

dunno, thought because the gps was connected to a cdma that gps reception might be different.

Since there is no cellular service at the boonies, what GPS (with pre-loaded maps) App do u guys use?

There are many threads on the options out there. I've been using TomTom but there are certainly other choices as well.

Subsidy lock has no effect on the GPS receiver.
