Unlocked IP6 or 6+ and S

I was in an Apple store today to replace an extra IP5 S and was told by the tech that ALL iPhones from the 6 onward are UNLOCKED when the phone is out of the country. In my case, my ATT IP6 S will be unlocked IF I'm in Europe or anywhere else outside the US. Pop a local sim card in and I'm in business in Timbuktu.

Is this correct?
