I was wondering how much an iphone 4 that is unlocked is worth. im referring to the ones that still have the old baseband and are unlockable with ultrasnow and not gevey turbo sim. I am looking to purchase one but want to know what is a good price range so i dont get ripped off.

P.s. i live in texas

I would just buy the apple factory unlocked ones. Sure you pay a little bit more but at least you don't have to wait forever for the new jailbreak/unlock to update.

ebay.com filtered by completed listings is usually a good place for reference.

Oh and I heard that Apple has removed any way to save SSH blobs so you might not be able to update at all when IOS5 comes out

how much are factory unlocked iphone 4s going for??....i have checked craigslist and i seen one in mint condition for 500 so i dont know if that was fair or not.

The 16GB is going for 649 and the 32GB is 749. Be wary if the price is too cheap. Be absolutely sure that the iPhone is factory unlocked and not software unlocked.

Or Gevey unlocked. A LOT of the ones on ebay and craigslist are going that route. And if it's jailbroken, there's an app that will allow the seller to fake the "About" screen so it may *appear* to be on 1.59, but in fact may be on something else.

Also, one thing to note about preserving the baseband is that there are nuisances that go along with it. If the phone is upgraded past 4.2.1, you run into the "1 bar signal" issue if you try to use it on the stock carrier, and ultrasn0w (which unlocks the phone) has problems with maintaining MMS and visual voicemail capabilities consistently. Additionally, there are anecdotal reports that the 1.59 baseband simply doesn't perform as well as later basebands (more dropped calls). I can say from that standpoint that my preserved 1.59 on 4.2.1 does in fact drop more calls than my husband's fully updated stock phone--enough to be noticeable. And of course, if you're preserving that unlock, you can never simply update in iTunes.

If it were me, and I NEEDED the unlock for regular use (as opposed to my current setup where we travel out of the country once every year or so), I'd pay the extra for the factory one through Apple. No potential ebay ripoffs, no issues with Gevey or upgrades, and a full one year warranty.
