It looks like its available now, but there's no "continue" button after you select the model. However, you can get it using Apple Store.app!

Just ordered one on the website. Estimated delivery of 11/28-12/05.

I had bought the AT&T full retail, device only iPhone 4S which is unlocked but I'm going to return that one now. Buying online saved $25 in taxes too.

I wonder if the retail stores have these yet. I know you can purchase unofficially unlocked ones by paying full price, but some people want peace of mind and have it say unlocked on their receipt.

I'm going to take "device only" phone to the apple store and talk to them. See if they'll guarantee me it will stay unlocked. If not, then yeah, I'll do it 100% legit and return my device only phone and get an unlocked phone.

That's a good idea. My only concern is getting a replacement at the Genius Bar. I know that the activation profile and unlock status is supposed to be transferred over to the replacement iPhone, but last year, I purchased an unlocked one in Canada. I needed a replacement, and I even drove back to Canada to go to the Genius Bar there. The replacement wasn't unlocked due to a system error. If I didn't have proof that my original one was unlocked, I probably would have been screwed.

64GB white, MD260LL/A. Estimated delivery of 11/28-12/05.
By the way, 5% cashback bonus if you go to Apple store website through the link under ShopDiscover and use your Discover card to purchase it! :)

is this contract phone work for over sea gsm ?

Here's the verbiage from Apple's site regarding the unlocked iPhone:

The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a contract commitment. You can activate and use it on the supported GSM wireless network of your choice, such as AT&T in the United States.* The unlocked iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S will not work with CDMA-based carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.

If you don’t want a multiyear service contract or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone is the best choice. It arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you’ll need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide. To start using it, simply insert the micro-SIM card into the slot on your iPhone and turn it on by pressing and holding the On/Off button for a few seconds. Then follow the onscreen instructions to set up your iPhone.

* Credit check may be required; must be 18 or older. An unlocked iPhone may be activated on supported GSM carrier networks. See www.apple.com/iphone for more information. Service may not be available in all areas or at the signal strength, rates, speeds, or bandwidth as demonstrated. Wi-Fi Internet access required for some features; broadband recommended; fees may apply. Some applications, features, and services are not available in all areas. Check with your service provider about network coverage in your area and international roaming options. Warranty information available at www.apple.com/legal/warranty/iphone. When available, transferring your mobile number to a different service provider will terminate your service with your existing provider; termination fees and other charges may apply. Some features may require added fees. Contact your service provider for more details. Use constitutes acceptance of Apple’s software license agreement and third-party terms located in the iPhone box. Unauthorized modification of your iPhone software violates the software license agreement. Inability to use an iPhone due to unauthorized modifications is not covered under your warranty.

Hi,

I am going to be in the US, by the end of october, can anyone help me if the retail sotres are going to sell the unlocked phone? The reason I ask this id because apple online store doesn't accept international credit cards, and my only option would be that.

Thanks in advanced.

Only problem with using the Discover Card is that they don't give you an extra year warranty like most platinum Visa and MC.

I have a Citi Dividend World MC, which currently offers 5% cash back this quarter at electronics stores. I've confirmed that purchases at the retail Apple Store qualify.

Also, on November 28, if you have a Chase Freedom, you can get 10% cash back from the Apple Online Store by clicking through Chase's Ultimate Rewards website.

I'm assuming you mean November?

I would imagine stores will have them before the end of the month but it would be best to call your local Apple store to find out.
so this unlock is only work for us GSM not outside us , such as european and asian country
The unlock works for any SIM on any GSM network in the world.

Are you asking if the unlocked iPhone works on non-US GSM networks? If not, what are you asking? If so, did you read what I quoted from Apple's site regarding the unlocked iPhone?

What?? If you don't mind me asking, what is "never lock version" and where did you get the info in bold?

The online Apple store is now selling the unlocked iPhone 4S so I would avoid sketchy 3rd party retailers.

Most people say that, do they? First I've ever heard of it.

In any case, as I understand it, a factory unlocked iPhone should remain unlocked no matter what one does with it, including updating to a new version of iOS.

As for the website, I wouldn't worry too much about them.
