I want to buy the following full priced(no contract), iphone 5S from Verizon:
Model A1533 CDMA - 32GB Gray ME344LL/A . This should be an unlocked device.
1. Is it really so?
2. Will I be able to make the first activation of the device outside the U.S.A with a local sim(not Verizon)?

1. Yes.
2. Yes. I purchased a full priced no contract Verizon iPhone 5S from Best Buy without activating it in the store. When I got home I opened the package and took out the Verizon SIM, and put in a T-Mobile SIM. You don't have to activate it on Verizon before using it.
