I purchased a new iPhone 17 Pro Max using Apple Card monthly installments. I use US Mobile as my carrier, but i had to choose one of the “big” carriers. Since the phone was purchased at the Apple Store it was unlocked so all worked out great when adding my US Mobile eSIM.

However there is one small strange quirk I would like to clean up. There seems to still be a 1/2 set up eSIM that is set up for T-Mobile that I am unable to delete.

When I click on “Add eSIM” I am prompted to add that T-Mobile carrier plan. I would like this to be completely removed. Is that possible?

I tried “Delete All eSIMS” and that 1/2 set up T-Mobile eSIM still shows up. Is this just something that will always be there since I purchased a T-Mobile iPhone?

If you are using USMobile Lightspeed service than you are on the TMobile network. Your iPhone can be locked to TMobile network and still work on USMobile. You just won’t be able to network transfer switch to USMobile WARP (Verizon) or DarkStar (ATT).

Check if your iPhone is truly carrier unlocked

As a T-Mobile customer active on the T-Mobile subreddit, I can tell you that a large number of T-Mob customers purchased their iPhones through Apple this year and used T-Mobile financing (through Apple).

Why? Because iPhones sold direct from Apple are unlocked. Phones sold from T-Mobile are locked.

So, OP is correct, their phone is unlocked - irrespective of whether USMobile uses T-Mob's network or not.

Possibly, you may be referencing the old Apple Retail Flex policy that applied to third party vendors such as Best Buy. That old policy meant that you could buy the unlocked model iPhone from a third party and then that iPhone would lock to the first carrier it was activated on. Apple stopped enforcing that policy a couple years ago and it doesn't apply to Apple itself.

OP, I cannot answer your question. Sorry.

I got the TMO from Apple using ACMI and activated it with MVNO: Visible.

Very easy to transfer my primary eSIM and my second eSIM for travel transferred over as well.

This thread is not meant to be “are iPhones purchased from the Apple Store really unlocked” or “which networks did I activate my iPhone on”. Please stay on topic or post a new thread. Thanks.
