I just sold my 3G on ebay. I successfully jailbroke ios 4.0 with redsnow. I followed the steps of unlocking it through ultrasn0w with the latest updates to fix the MMS issue. I have no Tmobile sim card to check that it worked. ... I am assuming that is the only way to verify that it actually worked.... Are there any other ways to unlock that I can rest assured that it works...I dont want my buyer trying to return the phone

If you installed the latest 0.93 ultrasnow and it shows up on installed package thru cydia you will be fine.
Just make sure you tell the buyer to leave 3G turned off in the settings so his signal doesnt keep going up and down and dropping. iPhones are not compatible with Tmobile USA 3G frequency.
Other than that nothing else you can do.
