Unlocking 4s 5.1 - confusion

Hey Guys,

Sorry If this is a repeat post but I'm a little confused as to the possibilities of unlocking a 4s at the moment?
I have a brand new 4s locked to orange thats on 5.1, I would like to use it on another network.
I don't need it jailbroken but I'm happy to do so if required. Is it at all possible at the moment? Do I need to downgrade to 5.0.1?

I believe Gevey Ultra S is your only option at this moment.

as far as i know, you need your phone jailbroken first for the gevey sim to work.

FYI if the 4S came from the store with 5.1 already installed there is no way for you to go back to 5.0.1.

Since it is brand new from Orange it is unlikely any 5.0.1 Blobs have been saved at all, so downgrading isn't a possibility. For unlocking, use the Gevey Ultra S, like Kyotoma said.

Isn't there a paid unlock service directly from Orange?

I ended up unlocking it with a Gavey sim (ultra S). This didn't require a jailbreak.

For anyone wanting an Orange unlock, you need to have the phone IMEI registered and used with an orange sim for 3 months. You can then pay £20 for them to unlock it.
