While there's a shortage of iPhone 6 Plus's right now, T-mobile 6 Plus's are virtually impossible to come by. Has anyone had any luck buying an out-of-contract Verizon, ATT or Sprint iPhone 6 and then unlocking it?

I've heard (but have not verified) that you can buy an out-of-contract phone for any carrier if you insist it is a gift (they may ask for the number of the recipient). Now you have a contractless phone but you still have to unlock it. Well, https://www.swiftunlocks.com offers iPhone 6 unlocking for $100. That seems like it might work, anyone else tried this or have a better idea?

No need for a story. Just say you want to buy either an att or verizon phone "device only". It will be unlocked.

Save yourself a world of hurt and take Sprint off of any mental list you have of phones to be unlocked.

Sprint. Unlock. Never going to happen. Don't waste your time with any Sprint models.

As others have said, the Verizon iPhone 6 plus is probably your best choice. Every Verizon LTE phone being sold today is fully carrier unlocked. If you buy an AT&T iPhone 6 plus for full price from Apple, it'll be unlocked also.
