Last year when the 4S released there were reports that ATT users were able to unlock them by taking out the SIM card prior to initial bootup. Anyone going to give it a try on their 5?

I'll give it a try but it should not work.
The phone should be "tied" to your account with your respective carrier. do you have a link from the thread for last year?
