Dear Forums:

I accidently updated a T-Mobile iPhone with that latest iPhone software 3.1.3. As I wrote previously I lost all of the Apps.

I was told to unlock and jailbreak with Spirit using an ATT Sim card.
I have another ATT phone. I don't want to do anything to that(data loss).

Is that correct. Is this the proper way?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rocky

No, you were told wrong.
You can now only JB the iphone but not possible to be unlocked untill a new hack is released sometime after the new iphone is out.
You gotta be alot more carefull next time with a JB and unlocked iphone. You dont just update it thru itunes to official firmware.

Unlocking T-Mobile Phone

Dear Applejuiced:

I guess at this point I cannot do anything with the T-Mobile phone?

Which I assume I would have to go to ATT for a new one.

I just want to clarify.

Thank you very much!

Rocky

You are correct.
You mean go to AT&T to buy a new one or use it now on AT&T?
Most iphones beeing sold right now will also come with 3.1.3 so that wont make much of a difference from where you are right now if thats what you meant.

Unlocking T-Mobile Phone

Dear Applejuiced:

Yes. I understand that the only way(right now) to get a working iPhone for my family member who had the T-Mobile would be to go to ATT and add another line to my ATT account.

I really was not thinking when I updated their phone.

Thanks for all of your help!

Is it possible to unlock a 3g on 3.1.3?

I know jb'ing is a breeze with spirit, but I'm trying to figure out if I can unlock as well.

Guessing the answer is no, but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks.

You're right.
Its no for now.
A yes in the near future though.

Thanks for the reply.

I was actually wrong, however. The phone is on 3.1.2 and it's a 3GS.

So is it possible to unlock a 3GS on 3.1.2? Should I use Blackrain and then Blacksnow? Or Spirit for anything?

I unlocked my phone a few months back when Blackrain/Snow first came out but, like many on this forum, had problems with blacksnow (the unlock) - random loss of service, wi-fi connectivity issues, dropped calls, etc.

Is it more stable now on a 3gs 3.1.2? [I'm doing this for a friend]

Thanks!

I'd go with Redsnow to JB and then install blacksnow RC2 from the follow repo thru cydia:
cydia.pushfix.info
Seems like the latest RC2 has fixed some bugs from the previous blacksnow release.

Depends on baseband, 4.26.xx use Ultrasn0w, 5.11.xx use Blacksn0w as you indicated, 5.12.xx you cannot currently unlock.
