Unlocking iOS 4.2.1 iPhone 3G

Ok so I got my mom's old iPhone 3G, and because I live in Norway (the phone is American) I had to unlock it. I managed to jailbreak it using redsn0w. But I still cant unlock it because the baseband is 5.15.04. I heard that redsn0w has an iPad baseband 6.15.00 option, but the version I used (0.9.6b4) doesnt have that. So is there any other way?

Iphone 3G
iOS 4.2.1
BB 05.15.04
Jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.6b4

Will I have to un-jailbreak and then re-jailbreak? Or can I just uncheck 'install cydia'?Also does this work with 4.2.1? I dont have any valuble information on the phone btw.

OK so redsn0w crashes whenever I install cydia and update BB. So i was just wondering if i should install cydia first or update bb first???

do be safe do a FULL RESTORE through itunes.

open redsn0w and select the .ipsw then when you see the boxes check
Install Cydia
Instal iPad BaseBand

you should now have 6.15 BB

open cydia, go into manage, sources, and you should see the dev team/ultrasn0w repo there.
or search ultrasn0w in the search bar

your unlocked

Do them separately to prevent crashes. Either way is fine.

Hi I have had many problems unlocking the iphone 3g but I found the solution that works for me.

Windows 7,
Use redsn0w_win_0.9.6b5,
Select Stock ipsw (iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore),
Tick "Install Cydia", and "Install iPad Baseband",
multitasking is optional,

Click next then follow instructions (Dfu mode).

iPhone 3g is now activated jailbroken and unlocked.

Restore to 4.1 not 4.2.1
Yes apple still signs that firmware
4.1 when done restoring, use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 as its the best imo

hi i tryed to jailbreak and install ipad baseband but while using redsnow it just closes and nothing happends?


is their a fix for this? or any other way to jailbreak and unlock? thanks

Do NOT try running 4.2.1 with iPad BB, It'll be slow as a slug and will be having compatibility issues.

Downgrade to 4.1 and make sure to run redsn0w in administrator mode
