I am studying abroad in Italy next semester and I am required to hold an Italian phone number. I was hoping to just be able to use my iPhone, unlocking it and throw a new SIM in, but of course its locked to ATT.

I am a little confused to all the different aspects of the process. I understand I have to jailbreak it and install ultrasn0w but it does not seem compatible, and it does not appear to be that simple but I am not sure.

Is it currently possible to unlock my phone?

Its running iOS 5.0.1 with firmware 04.11.08.

If it is not possible to do in its current state. What would I have to do to make it work?

Thanks

Currently, there is no unlocked available for your phone including Gevey (Turbo) sim.

So, you have only 1 option if you want to use Iphone oversea.

Sell it for probably $300 + $350 of your own money and get yourself a factory unlocked Iphone.
