I'm thinking of buying a handset from New zealand without contract, and then using it in the uk by reinstalling the firmware with Pwnage.

Wonder if anyone knows the limits this would impose if any, i.e. would still only work with the uk exclusive mobile contractor o2, or if any web features would be limited, or if there would be problems with the aps store and so on.

The exclusive contract in New Zealand is with vodaphone, so it would probably work with any vodaphone pay as you go sim, but would that be limited to NZ numbers? or would the Pwnage open the access to any number and any sim card?

iPhone 3G cannot be unlocked right now

when unlocked, it should work fine though

and yes, i would imagine it would be locked to just NZ voda sims

I think the new version of Pwnage allows you to unlock the new 3G with the 2.0 firmware also no?

Here is a cool video I found giving a simple demo of the Pwnage software
