Hi, I recently found some iPhone unlocking services.

One question I have is that will unlocking the iPhone allow me to save money on plans? For example, would I be able to switch to another carrier, like h2o, and not have a data plan required when using the iPhone? Right now my iPhone isn't activated because I switched to my old phone after losing it, but found it again and haven't notified at&t or put the sim back in.

Also, I could convert my old (activated) sim into a micro sim to put into the iphone 4, but at&t can detect that its an iPhone through the IMEI #. Are there any carriers that won't detect the iPhone, or any carriers that allow its customers to use it without data?

Well, until you notify AT&T that you "found" your phone again you will not be able to IMEI unlock.

No matter what third party service you use, they will not whitelist (unlock) a blacklisted phone.
