Unlocking iPhone 4S and Updates

Hello,

Due to wanting to leave my current network (Three UK), I want to unlock my phone (if its locked, but I expect it will be). If I get it unlocked by the network, can I still install updates and keep the unlock. I do not want to jailbreak my phone at all.

Once your phone is unlocked by carrier (factory unlocked), then you can do whatever with the update and not to worry about it locks again. Once it unlocks, it will remain unlocked no matter what you do to it.
