I have an iPhone 3G that is on no carrier right now. I have a samsung phone that is one my plan that I am using with no data plan. Is there a way I can get my iPhone to take the place of my samsung phone with no data for now?

Which carrier do you have (assuming you're in the U.S) AT&T or T-Mobile?

If you put your AT&T sim they will eventually add a data plan automaticly.
No unlocking or JB will hide your iphone's imei number to the carrier.
You can use it with no data with prepaid AT&T sims or unlocked on Tmobile.
