Unlocking my iPhone 4

Dont really know much about it. But I do have my iPhone 4 Jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1.

A buddy of mine is looking to buy it from me and he is with a different carrier.

Can 4.2.1 be unlocked? And Ive heard that the phone cannot be turned off if it is unlocked?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

As long as he's on a GSM carrier - but I also see you're from Canada. from Apple's website, I know at least Roger's will offer an unlock but I recall hearing some others do too. Try asking your carrier about it - unlocking via the carrier is permanent, IIRC, unlike a jailbroken unlock.

if you check out www.iphoneincanada.ca and search for "Unlock" the first two posts are about Roger/Fido offering unlocks for a fee, and Telus to also offer them sometime this year.

Telus is unlocking every phone models that they carry.

Except the iphone LOL

Not like it was the most popular and expensive phone they are carrying.

Thanks for the info guys.

Stupid thing is. My iPhone 4 is from Virgin Mobile which is basically Bell. But my buddy is on Bell. I called Bell just to see if their sims will work on the VirginMobiles iPhone 4 and the guy said no. Same network but different company. And it even says Bell 9.0 in the Carrier under about.

I do have firmware 03.10.01.

Maybe I should actually call Bell and not a store to check on this.

If it says bell 9.0 in carrier it should work. Try it, dont listen to these dumb sellers at bell store.
