Currently on At&t. But we're planning on leaving in Dec. and I'm wondering if At&t will have to unlock our phones after we've paid off the ETF. We have 3 phones on contract...

I did some searching and I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Yes - once balance is paid in Full you may request an Unlock and they will honor it, just make sure you do this after payment so there isn't anything owing

awesome! Thanks! And there is no way after the account is paid off that they can deny me right?

Good question, i'm paying an ETF as well here shortly good to know the phones will be unlocked. Great for Reselling :)

Perfect.... My sister's friend who works for the Apple store said they might deny me. Glad to hear he is wrong.

Appreciate the help!

Request the Unlock at the time of paying ETF:

- When you are ready to start the process of ETF / Transferring your #, Call AT&T and ask them to Unlock your phones (Because you will be required to have an active account in good standing) The wont deny you since you are moving carriers (This is a valid reason), however again do keep your Payment Receipt/Confirmation # because if you don't pay your ETF they will blacklist your smartphones (this way you can also protect your self against any mistakes should they ever occur)

I think I would use the online request form now since they may not be as unwilling to unlock it later...

I tried it already. I was denied... because I'm still on contract until 11/20.

My sister upgraded on my account today so now I won't be able to unlock it on 11/20 like I originally planned. Both my sisters are willing to pay the full ETF to save 100 bucks.

Thanks for the advice.
