We recently moved to the USA for 6 months, bringing with us our unlocked 3GS which is sold through the Apple Stores in Australia.

We are unable to get a contract with AT&T because we are only staying 6 months. We purchased a Go-Phone for $20 and we are using that SIM in our iphones, allowing calls and text messaging. Data however is not available.

AT&T tell us that Apple has "locked" data access to the iPhone to be restricted to AT&T plans and is not available for pre-paid phones.

The data is available to use in the cheap Go-Phone I purchased, so there is no issue with the provision of data on that SIM, just an issue accessing the data from the iPhone.

Does anyone know how I can enable the iphone to access the data from this SIM. I was told by T-Mobile that there is probably some software download that would enable this.

Help would be much appreciated.
