My AT&T contract ends in December and I am going to have them unlock my 3GS. I am going to be giving it to a friend on a T-Mobile talk and text only plan. My question is, how can I turn off data permanatly for the unlocked phone?

Thanks in advance.

Settings > General > Cellular data Off. This will turn off all data on the phone.

I know that, but is there an APN setting to make sure it can never be activated. Just don't want him to turn it on accidentally and cost him money.

Why would you not just edit your other thread?

If you just turn off data, i think that would probably disable MMS. Unless the iphone is smart enough to keep those separate.

And you should be able to just delete or deliberately put in an incorrect apn for the internet apn.

Leave the apn for MMS alone.

I don't think it's possible. Just tell your friend to never turn cellular data on.
